a million-fold through
interactive multimedia and networked communications.
In theory, the marriage required is simple. As we
covered in the introduction to this book, the opportunity exists to:
Take the knowledge of the world's best "subject
specialists", in mathematics, chemistry, English, Japanese, geography or anything
else;
Marry it to the expertise of the world's best accelerated-learning specialists
- the people whose ideas shine throughout this book;
Link that to skills of the world's best experts in interactive multimedia -
the programmers, designers, editors and artists;
Simplify those concepts into a basic template that every good teacher or
trainer can use to create interactive learning programs;
Use the world's most efficient electronic distribution systems;
And along the way use the same new interactive techniques to train the parents
and teachers who will be at the heart of the new child-development revolution; and the
managers, trainers and staff who are rethinking and replanning their own business futures.
One to seize the opportunities
is British innovator Colin Rose. His Accelerated Learning Systems group has specialized
for more than a decade in Lozanov-type do-it-yourself foreign-language programs.
Now Rose has combined all the best principles he's learned from language
learning into a new English-as-a-Foreign-Language course for Japanese. Students can choose
their method of learning: guidebook, videotape, audio tracks or interactive interactive
CD-ROM form.
Colin Rose's newest book is Master It Faster, designed
specifically to help older students and adults learn much faster, make good decisions and
think creatively. And he's linked up with Britain's Campaign for Learning to
produce a guidebook on Creating a MASTER Organization. MASTER is a mnemonic from
the words: Mindset for success, Acquire the information, Search out the meaning, Trigger
the memory, Exhibit what you know, and Reflect on how you have learned.
Rose's company in 1996 also
launched its new FUNdamentals program, designed to shows parents a range of dozens
of activities that will enable their families to read, write, do basic mathematics and
much more - before starting school. It includes extensive videotape, more than 1,000
activities, a detailed guidebook, and a variety of word-cards, phonic cards, reading
games, math games and writing templates.
