| Mt. Edgecumbe High School’s Constancy of Purpose Human relations are the foundation for all quality improvement. All components in our organization can be improved. Removing the causes of problems in the system inevitably leads to improvement. The person doing the job is most knowledgeable about that job. People want to be involved and do their jobs well. Every person wants to feel like a valued contributor. More can be accomplished by working together to improve the system than by working individually around the system. A structured problem-solving process, using statistical graphic problem-solving techniques, lets you know where you are, where the variations lie, the relative importance of problems to be solved, and whether the changes made have had the desired impact. Adversarial relationships are counter-productive and outmoded. Every organization has undiscovered gems waiting to be developed. Removing the barriers to pride of workmanship and joy of learning unlocks the true untapped potential of the organization. Ongoing training, learning and experimentation is a priority for continuous improvement. The aim of Mt. Edgecumbe High School, Sitka, Alaska, is to produce QUALITY individuals.
