| The learning style of a typical student HAPTIC: 37% Moving, touching, doing AUDITORY: 34% Sound, music VISUAL: 29% Learning from pictures This is an average student "learning style profile" compiled by Specific Diagnostic Studies, of Rockville, Maryland, from 5,300 students, grades 5 through 12, who have undergone SDS's Learning Channel Preference Checklist, in the United States, Hong Kong and Japan. SDS, however, stresses that it would be statistically incorrect to deduce from this that 37 percent of students are solely haptic (or tactile-kinesthetic) learners, that 34 percent are auditory and that 29 percent are visual. Every student profile showed a certain percentage in each of the three categories, and the percentages in the graph above represented the mean average. |
