Engines for Education,

   Professor Roger C. Schank runs The Institute for the Learning Sciences at Northwestern University in Chicago and is a world specialist in pioneering new methods of introducing information technology into education. 
   In this excellent book, he starts by declaring that "today’s schools are organized around yesterday’s ideas, yesterday’s needs and yesterday’s resources (and they were not even doing very well yesterday)." 
   He then proceeds to outline some very positive alternatives.
   But, unlike many advocates of IT, Schank is very firmly grounded on the principle that "if you want to learn it, do it!" 
   The book comes with a CD-ROM showing many multimedia, interactive examples of learning technology.
